Rapid Scribe — Support

Rapid Scribe records a meeting or a walkthrough on your iPhone, transcribes it on the device, and gives you a clean document you can work from. Everything below describes the app as it ships today.

Getting in touch

Write to privacy@madebyrapid.com. A person reads it. It helps to say which iPhone and which version of iOS you are on, and what you expected to happen.

Recording

The two ways to record

• Straight through. Start it, let it run, stop it. One conversation in, one document out — a board meeting, an interview, a performance review.
• Item by item. Press Next item as you move and name each one as you reach it. A site walkthrough, a defects inspection, a vehicle check or a stocktake becomes a list of headed sections rather than a wall of text.

The app is not hearing the microphone

Rapid Scribe needs the Microphone permission to record and Speech Recognition to transcribe. If either was declined, open the iOS Settings app, find Rapid Scribe, and switch it back on. Recording will not start without the microphone.

Knowing who said what

Run a roll call before you start and have each person say their name. The transcript is then attributed to real people instead of “Speaker 1”. Each person can also say aloud that they consent to being recorded, and that goes into the record with the rest of the session.

Transcription

It is taking a while, or has not finished

Transcription runs on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition, so it depends on your device rather than on a connection. A long session takes longer, and the first run may need iOS to download Apple’s language model. The session list shows you where each one is up to — still transcribing, still backing up, or finished.

Nothing is sent anywhere to be transcribed

Your audio is not uploaded for transcription — not to us, not to Apple, not to anyone. There are no servers behind this app.

Backups and restoring

Choosing where backups go

• Your own iCloud Drive — kept in your Apple Account, under your control.
• A cloud folder you choose — handled by whichever service owns that folder.
• On this device only — nothing is uploaded at all.

Backup and restore are free. Not losing your work should never be a paid feature.

Moving to a new iPhone

Back everything up to a single file, then restore it on the new phone. Your recordings, transcripts, participants and consent records come across intact.

An older backup will not open

Rapid Scribe still opens backups written under the app’s previous name. If one will not load, write to us with the file name and roughly when it was made.

Exporting

Export a session as a Markdown or text document and send it wherever you need through the standard iOS share sheet. What you export, and where it goes, is your choice — once it reaches another app or service, that service’s terms apply to it rather than ours.

Deciding what is kept

Keep the audio, keep the transcript only, or protect a recording so it is never cleaned up. You can set that for a single session, for a session type, or across the whole app.

Privacy

The app collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. The full detail is in the Rapid Scribe privacy policy.
